ABOUT ME

My name is Bhav.  Psychotherapist, counsellor and trainer.

I offer a reflective, collaborative space where you can safely bring your whole self, not just the parts that feel acceptable or polished. Whether you're grappling with a specific issue, feeling emotionally stuck, or sensing that something deeper needs attention, we’ll work together to explore what’s emerging at your pace. I aim to foster insight and resilience through curiosity, challenge and compassion.

Therapy with me is collaborative, compassionate and thoughtful. Rather than telling you what to do, we work together to explore your experiences, thoughts, and feelings so that you can develop a deeper understanding of yourself and what might be helpful moving forward.

My Background

I am a qualified therapist with training in counselling and psychotherapy. I am registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and you can find my profile here.

I have experience supporting adults with a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges that stem from childhood right up to present day issues. Whilst I wouldn't say I am drawn to a particular 'type' of client, I work well with people who are introspective, inquisitive and self-reflective.

Prior to entering the world of psychotherapy, I trained as a Chartered Accountant with Deloitte LLP and worked in the corporate and non-profit sectors as Finance Director. My career transition was fuelled by a desire to be more aligned to my core beliefs around human connection and be relational in in how I worked. Whether it was growing up in a multi-generational household, natural traits I developed through my life, or because of challenges I have faced myself, I feel naturally drawn to people and building meaningful relationships.

I am now in private practice based in Radlett/Shenley and St Albans. I am also a freelance therapist with the Carvalho Consultancy, specialist providers of therapeutic services to the legal and corporate sectors. You can see me here

I am also a tutor at the Albany Centre (St Albans) on the Diploma in Gestalt Counselling course and a counselling supervisor.

My Approach

I aim to create a space where you can speak openly and feel genuinely heard. Our work together may involve exploring patterns in your life, understanding the impact of past experiences, and developing new ways of responding to challenges. There may have been traumatic events from the past that need unpacking or issues from the present day that require immediate attention. Each person’s therapy process is unique, and we will work in a way that supports your individual needs and goals.

My approach is warm, grounded, and relational. I tailor our work to you - integrating creativity and depth with the practicalities of real life. I understand what it means to hold multiple roles in the world and I bring a sincere respect for the personal and cultural narratives that have shaped who you are.

I like to know the context of your life, the narratives that shaped your actions, the beliefs you hold about yourself and the world around you, the pivot moments of your life that changed your script. I need to know what makes you tick and the fears that hold you back. Therapy offers an opportunity to step back from the pressures of everyday life and reflect on what you are experiencing in a supportive and non-judgemental environment.

My professional training and ongoing development inform the way I work, and I am committed to providing a thoughtful, ethical, and supportive therapeutic environment.

What It’s Like to Work With Me

People who work with me often describe our sessions as calm, reflective, and supportive. I am inquisitive but respectful of your boundaries and preferences. I offer respectful challenge that may make you consider your own perspectives with new light.

Therapy can sometimes involve exploring difficult emotions, but it can also bring clarity, relief and new perspectives. My aim is to help you feel more able to understand yourself and navigate the challenges you are facing.

Outside the Therapy Room

Therapy and mental health are my main interest areas; so outside of the therapy room I am a counselling course tutor, reflective practitioner and mentor for young entrepreneurs. I speak on intergenerational trauma and the psychological impact of displacement and discrimination on identity. I am still a registered Chartered Accountant and fuse this with therapy by offering financial wellbeing coaching sessions and speaking on how people's relationship with money shows up in their personality and in therapy.
